Just recently I have really taken some time to uncover what drives me. What I find truly important and how it presents itself in my actions, thoughts and feelings. What is in my core? This clarity has given me a deeper sense of direction and purpose. And as always, the more I connect to my depths, the more I connect to Love.
It has become clear that my core values are kindness, courage and integrity.
KINDNESS is what my soul longs to give and receive. Generosity, compassion, empathy, trustworthiness... I believe this helps people thrive. Science shows a link to better health and an increased sense of wellbeing. It helps reduce cortisol levels (stress hormone) and brings our bodies back to a more balanced and relaxed state.
Ever heard of ‘the helper's high’? Well, that actually refers to the rush of positive feelings about ourselves when we exhibit kindness towards others.
That said, kindness towards ourselves is equally important. Self-compassion versus negative self-talk.
When we practice random acts of kindness we spread Love. A ripple effect through which we feel better, the other feels better AND Love spreads out. It has such an encouraging effect. When something feels good, we humans want to repeat the behavior and so we create a more loving world.
To choose kindness takes effort and emotional strength. This brings me to my second core value: COURAGE.
To be courageous means to me that I dare to choose. I dare to take a leap of faith. To be silent, turn inward and look at what presents itself. To trust life and myself. I dare to act! To go against what is perceived as ‘normal’ and follow my own heart. I dare to be free! I dare to LIVE!
And this with INTEGRITY. Always.
Integrity means to me to do the right thing, even when no one is looking. It means to be true to my own heart: if it feels good, dive in deep. If it doesn’t, turn away. It is being honest to myself and others. Accountable, dependable, kind. It is staying close to my core values.
And so this brings us back full circle.
My 2022 intention is to really ground in my core. What is yours? What are your core values? Feel free to share below.
So much love to you...
